Elmhurst, IL (February 1, 2013) – Common Goal Systems, a leading developer of cloud-based software for schools, announces several enhancements to TeacherEase and SchoolInsight. TeacherEase is software for the digital classroom and includes: Learning Management System, Curriculum and Lesson Planning, and Standards-based Gradebook. SchoolInsight is a comprehensive student information system.
“Every month or so we improve our software,” says Pat Helmers, Vice President of Sales for the company. “Based on customers’ requests, we’ve added time-saving features for attendance and lunch processing. For iPads users, TeacherEase will now look better.”
The new functionality includes:
Improved High School attendance. In an effort to save admins time, there’s now a new option for “aggressive” handling of missing period attendance. We basically copy period attendance that has been entered to adjacent missing periods, to “fill in the blanks.” This significantly reduces the time required for office staff to “fix” attendance teachers neglected to enter. This improves ease of use when calculating daily attendance at the end of the day. Also improved is the use of space on the attendance console to avoid the need for horizontal scrolling when there’s lots of missing period attendance.

New BETA Lunch Processing. For some customers, entering lunch orders can be slow. An occasional slow save can be highly disruptive to the lunch line. To speed up lunch processing, we separated the saving of lunch data from the user interface. Users no longer have to wait until each order is saved before scanning the next student. We now store the information locally and save in the background while users continue working. This feature should keep the lunch line moving even if the internet connection is less than perfect. Note this feature is being rolled out to a limited community initially. Please contact support@common-goal.com to participate.
