Common Goal Systems experiencing denial of service attack

Elmhurst, IL (January 26, 2012) – Common Goal Systems, developer of the web-based programs TeacherEase and SchoolInsight, has been experiencing distributed denial of service attacks (DDoS) over the last few days. These attacks have affected website availability and caused significant downtime and discomfort for customers.

"We have been hit with 10 times the normal Internet traffic, and it overwhelmed portions of our infrastructure." says Mike Xakellis, CEO for Common Goal Systems. "We are in the process of upgrading our firewall and security equipment to handle this attack. We regularly protect our network from intrusion, but this is the first malicious attack that has affected our customers. We apologize for the inconvenience, and hope to restore system stability soon. If you would like to be informed of the current status, real time updates can be found at www.twitter.com/TeacherEase. "
